Dry Ice Blasting Equipment - High Pressure Pelletizer Model 1000

If you do not have a source where you can purchase the dry ice, you can manufacture it yourself using one of the two sizes of High Pressure Pelletizers that Cryogenesis manufactures. Cryogenesis has partnered with Ohio Engineering, a custom manufacturing company specializing in hydraulic press repair and radial piston pump repair, to offer the Pelletizer.

Subject: Proper handling and storage of dry ice.

The following is a list of good practices required to supply customers with a quality dry ice product.
  1. When dry ice is extruded from the die on a dry ice machine every precaution should be made to keep the product from being exposed to atmosphere. This will become evident on high humility days when one can observe snow forming around the strains of dry ice. This will occur when the dry ice remains attached to the die for lengths greater then one foot. To prevent atmosphere from coming in contact with the dry ice, a hood and hood extension has been supplied. This hood should extend to within 3 to 4 inches from the top of the dry ice container. If you have these conditions you will notice a CO2 blanket being formed within the box and spilling over the edges of the dry ice containers. This is an ideal condition and one that should be required at all times. This spilling over also presents another problem with CO2 vapor now on the floor. We recommend installing an ID fan with a high cfm flow having its suction at floor level. (Example: Wall ventilators with shutters 30” fan 7,110-cfm ½ hp). The fan should be boxed in with the housing extending to the floor, stopping about 4 inches above the floor. This will handle any CO2 vapors.

  2. Pulling CO2 vapor from the hood or hood extension is not a good practice. Exhausting vapor in this matter will cause free air with moisture in it to come in contact with the dry ice, resulting in a poor quality product.

  3. All boxes should be dry, with no trace of water and no cracks in the inside.

  4. To seal the box place a 48” wide by 10-mill plastic over box before placing lid on. Then use an 18” wide 10 mill material around lid a minimum of three times.
